Famous First and Last Line

"In the town, there were two mutes and they were always together."

Carson McCullers, born as Lulu Carson Smith on February 19, 1917,
in Columbus, Georgia. She first wanted to be a musician and started taking piano lesson at the age of 10, but as a child she  experience rheumatic fever and it led her put her dreams of becoming a musician aside. She then started to explore writing and her first novel, which gained a lot of success was called, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. It is a about a guy named John Singer, who is deaf and mute. He has a best friend who left to some fort of asylum due to craziness. John all by myself start to wander around town and got notice by four individuals that would soon depend on him with their life. Through the years the dour individual would share their stories, worries, and problems to John. Although they don't know that he is as clueless as they are about life. I think I would not read this book because I feel like this book is sad. I like that it shows you different stories about the four individuals, but I don't like reading books that is full of worries and problems. Also I have a feeling that the book is not going to have a happy ending, which reminds me of so much of the book, Mice and Men. In which I don't like.

"Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody."

J.D.Salinger was born on January 1, 1919. He wanted to become a writer after military and he had his work published on, The New Yorker, which was his favorite magazine. He then publishes his landmark novel, The Catcher in the Rye, which set a new course for literature. It was about a guy name Holden who got ax and was suppose to leave school. He got into a fight with his roommate and left two days earlier. He adventure around New York before going home. Encounter and interacting with teachers, nuns, prostitutes, an old girlfriend, and his sister along the way. After the book was published Salinger lived a secluded life and published on more book before he died. I was introduced to this book in English 3 H. When Ms.Self gave us a summary for the book, it didn't really catch my attention and still today it doesn't. I just don't find the book interesting.
